Allie’s Ahmazing Blog

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

On a first impression a lot of people define you by how much power you have, which is pointless. The amount of power an individual has doesn’t reflect on their personality or intelligence. We are all equal, so there should be an equal balance of power between us. We should have a fair balance so that one person or a single group of people doesn’t try to take over the world, because we all have to live in it.The quote, “With power comes great responsibility,” makes a lot of sense. No human is responsible enough to carry the weight of the world, and all of the people living in its responsibilities.  In a perfect world nobody would have the power to completely control someone else’s life. All societies should have and maintain an equal balance of power throughout the community. Our world would function so much better if we all shared the power.

February 25th-March 4th 2008

This week in language arts class we talked a lot about the importance of writing blogs. I think that using the internet for communication is very important, a blog is a basic way of expressing yourself online but I don’t think it’s for everyone. Lots of people worry about security and the fact that they don’t know the people looking at their writing. In my opinion though, people are generally good, and just because you don’t know someone doesn’t mean there a bad person. Besides if you don’t leave personal information on your blog the worst that could happen is that they might post a creepy comment, but I think you’ll live.

This week I learned that my friend, Kennedy doesn’t like mashed potatoes but she likes every other kind of potato. This made me excited because I like all potatoes that aren’t mashed too and I’ve never met another person in my life who thinks smashing up potatoes and then eating them with a spoon is gross. I guess no matter how outnumbered you think you are there will always be someone else out there who agrees with you.

This week I daydreamed about what I want to be when I grow-up. It sounds like something I should have decided when I was four, but my mind has changed since then because I’m not so sure how to become a Barbie doll, or a fairy princess, but hey you never know. I think when I grow up I am going to be a doctor. Once I graduate medical school I hope to travel abroad giving aid to developing countries for a year or two.

This week in class, when we were talking about power struggles, I wanted to ask how a society can achieve a balance of power when their ruled by a dictator. How would you show a country completely controlled by the government that they need to have an equal balance of power between the government and the citizens of their community.

February 21st

We talked about possible reasons for why we write and how important it is. Then we started to analyze poetry and I learned that in a poem no words are put there by accident. Since it was a Thursday afternoon I daydreamed about what it would be like to be an artist, a writer, a poet, or a photagrapher. I wished that I could be talented enough to be successful and make people feel what I felt in a picture or paragraph. I wanted to ask why the poet wrote the poem that we looked at and who he imagined his audience being. Did he write this to make him more famous or because he really cares?

My Goals For This Blog

Writing a blog is new to me, my internet knowledge goes about as far as myspace and msn, but I’m going to try and make this interesting. I think my goals for this blog are to write posts and put up pictures based on my own experiences and interests. I want to write blog posts that people can relate to all around the world, but also that people can learn from. I’m not sure where I envision this blog to be in the far future because I don’t know the audience of my blog yet. For now I’m going to work towards getting a couple of interesting posts and pictures up to make my blog more exciting.
